Who We Are:
Supportive Services Corporation is a not-for-profit Agency that serves Western New Yorkers on two fronts, through a Senior Employment Program and the Weatherization Assistance Program for low to moderate income households. In place since 1975, Supportive Services is governed by a Board of Directors and funded by grants from the federal, state, county, and local governments. The Agency is Buffalo-based with the Weatherization Program operating out of Lancaster, NY.
Opportunity Overview:
Supportive Services is looking for an Executive Director (ED) to lead the people, the mission, and the vision of the organization. The ED will set the strategy, build the culture, and lead the senior team. It will be vital to position the Agency to meet the needs of County residents seeking our services.
What is required:
- College Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Social Work or related field and 10 years of senior management and/or leadership experience. Experience in the nonprofit sector is preferred.
- Experience and skill working with a Board of Directors.
- Integrity and adherence to ethical and professional standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to encourage teamwork and a collaborative approach within the organization and within the community.
- Required competencies include strong leadership orientation, analytical thinking, business acumen, strategic thinking, diplomacy, and visionary outlook.
What will you do:
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of Agency strategic direction.
- Assess the environment for current trends and opportunities.
- Attend, plan and execute Board meetings in collaboration with the Board Chairperson.
- Provide oversight of Supportive Services’ marketing efforts.
- Serve as Supportive Services’ primary spokesperson and “face” of the organization.
- Develop constructive relationships with community leaders including elected officials, civic and private organizations, and other Agency Executives.
- Advocate for policies that improve the lives of the people we serve.
- Ensure the recruitment and training of a strong workforce committed to the Agency mission.
- Model and practice sensitivity, fair treatment, and acceptance of diversity in all interactions.
Salary will be determined by relevant experience. Supportive Services also offers a competitive benefits package with the opportunity to fill the role in either a full-time or part-time capacity. The salary is presently $38K as a part time position.
