Accounting Assistant

Responsible for providing accounting and clerical support to accounting department. Reports to financial director.

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
  • Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
  • Assist with reconciling accounts
  • Assists with data entry of financial transactions in database
  • Assist with inputting daily worksheets for job costing and inventory
  • Assists with maintaining inventory records
  • Assists with accounts payable checks weekly and prepares for mailing
  • Know the procedures and steps required in the preparation of payroll and assist when required
  • Assists the Financial Director in the preparation of monthly reports
  • Miscellaneous assignments as needed

Requirements and skills

  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
  • Competency in MS Office (Excel), databases and accounting software
  • Knowledge of Sage 300 or ERP systems
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers
  • Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
  • Data entry skills
  • Well organized
  • High school degree
  • Associate’s degree or relevant certification is a plus
